Books- I need recommendations!
Opps, I meant to post this on the last post. I need book recommendations. I have a new e reader, not a Kindle. Its called a Bebook Neo and comes form Holland. I wanted to buy books from book shop Santa Cruz and not be restricted to Amazon. This is the e reader that is most popular out side of the US where the Kindle reins. I want o buy a bunch in advance before I go so please send recommendations. I like fiction and non fiction, memoirs and biographies and more. (Gary S. I already got "The Help" on your recommendation. Its the first ebook I bought.) So send my ideas here or at my email which I think you all have.

I don't know whether I might have recommended some of these to you already. try any of these:
ReplyDeleteUrsala Under - so good I made Pablo read it.
Behind the scenes at the Museum, by Kate Atkinson.
The Teahouse Fire
City of Darkness, City of Light, by Marge Piercy - historical novel about the French Revolution
I have read Tales of a Female Nomad. I liked it, it probably helped inspire this trip along. I read Water for Elephants too. Just bought Born on a Blue day for my new e-reader. Psylvia' s list I don't think I have read any of them. Time to see if you can get them electronically!
ReplyDeleteKeep sending in recommendations!
I'm reading Songs Without Words by Ann Packer http://www.annpacker.com/songs_description You already know I like books that are tortuous family dramas and this one is spot-on. She also wrote The Dive from Clausen Pier http://www.annpacker.com/dive_description and I realy liked it. Her new one looks great http://www.annpacker.com/swim_description but it is still only in hardback -- maybe that doesn't matter for eBooks? I am waiting for the new one by Myla Goldberg -- The False Friend (its also still in hardback). I LOVED Bee Season by her. My sister in law (a book person with great recommendations) suggested Father of the Rain by Lily King http://www.nytimes.com/2010/07/25/books/review/Schillinger-t.html and February by Lisa Moore http://www.nytimes.com/2010/02/21/books/review/Brownrigg-t.html. I think you need a section of your blog for book recommendations and book reviews!
